Makhana is a crop that asks almost nothing - it grows in standing water, it needs no chemical inputs, and it keeps its goodness exactly where the farmer put it. All we do is roast it well.
We roast in cold-pressed olive oil rather than palm oil or butter. It is a slower, gentler process, and it leaves the kernel with the light, almost floral finish that olive oil gives without overpowering the grain. The salt is Himalayan pink, stone-ground and coarse enough to be felt.
There is no added sugar, no colour, no flavouring and no preservative. The ingredient panel is three lines long because that is all the product contains.

How to use it
- Straight from the pouch, one handful at a time.
- Toss with roasted peanuts, curry leaves and a pinch of chilli for a ten-minute chaat.
- Crush over warm rice with ghee and salt.
- Add to a corn and onion salad for crunch that survives the dressing.
